Protect Your License

Why You Should Fight a Traffic Ticket

  • Reduction in Points
  • Reduction in Fines
  • Avoid the NYS Driver Assessment Fee:

This fee is in addition to any court fines and is assessed for receiving 6 or more points in an 18 month period.  The fee for 6 points is $300 and is increase $ 75 for every point over 6 points (e.g., $375 for 7 points in an 18 month period)

  • Avoid license suspension:

11 points in an 18 month period
3 speeding tickets in an 18 month period.
Repeat offenders.

Avoid points early even if you are not near the 11 points.  Who knows what the future holds.  Bad news comes in bunches.

  • Avoid Insurance Premium increases:

By law, your insurance company can increase your rates for a variety of reasons.  They include but are not limited to:

  • Speeding more than 15 m.p.h. over the limit
  • Reckless driving if an injury or death is a result
  • Speeding, reckless driving, or both on three or more occasions
  • DWI/DUI
  • Leaving the scene of an accident
  • Contest racing (drag racing)
  • Driving without a license
  • More than one moving violations
  • Operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license

Miscellaneous Other Moving Violations

In most cases of moving violations, I will either achieve a dismissal or reduction of points to zero with substantially lower fine(s).  These include but are not limited to those items listed in the points charge elsewhere on this website.

Miscellaneous Non-Moving Violations

While there are numerous other citations which can be issued to you that carry no points, these violations will still appear on your driving record and should be avoided.  These include adult seatbelt violations, equipment violations, registration violations and driving without a license.
